Siekierka Landscape Lends a hand to Tree Restoration
Wednesday October 12, 2011
Saturday October 8th Supervisors Mark Siekierka, Brian Jones and Lee Baker donated their time to plant 200 Norway Spruce Seedlings on Sno Mountain, in Scranton Pennsylvannia. "The Seedlings are 4 year old trees and are about 2-3 feet high right now. They are quick growing trees with little insect and disease issues and should establish on the hillside nicely." said Siekierka. "This portion of the slope was cleared about 4 years ago. The new trees should add an attractive slopeside appearance and block some of the wind for the chairlift." added Jones. Sno mountain hopes to contuinue its relationship with Siekierka Landscape and plant between 200-300 new trees each year as part of their "Green Initiative".
